2001-01-24 - 8:18 pm� I have exciting news. Well, it's exciting to me, it might not be to anyone else, but damnit, it is exciting to me. Yesterday while I was at work, my mom took a phone call for me from the supervisor lady at the temp job I had from August to December. She said that there is almost certainly going to be a 3 month contract (with a chance of extension) opening up in her department by the middle of February, and she wants me to fill it! I called her back today and got the details. There is someone in the department going on maternity leave (I knew about that part already), and someone else in the department is quitting, so they are going to shift jobs around, leaving an scheduling clerk spot open. I'd be doing the scheduling clerk job once again, which is the job I liked (most of the time). I'd get to talk to the sweet old volunteers again, and try to appease the miserable old clients. I'd get to work in the office I liked, I'd get to feel like I was doing a useful and worthwhile job. I'd only have to take one bus to get to work again. I wouldn't have to get up at 6:30 in the morning. I'd get to go out for lunch again. I'd get more money than I am getting now. I'd get more money than I got when I was working there through the temp agency. Needless to say, I really hope this all works out. The temp agency doesn't mind if I take the contract. I'll be able to go back to the agency when this contract is done. And if my former supervisor lady is to be believed, and I think she is, I am the only person up for this job. As long as she gets the okay to hire someone, the job is mine. Everybody cross your fingers for me!
