I Shouldve Taken That Left Turn at Albuquerque
Hello and welcome.

I used to hate being ID'ed. Up until a couple years ago I took it as a personal insult. I hated my adulthood questioned, as if I was being judged unfairly, or as if it was a reflection on my maturity level, or some such nonesense.
I was asked for ID when I bought my birthday booze today. I was so thrilled that someone would think I was so much younger than 30, that I might not even be legal age. I was so excited to show her my ID that she told me not to bother (that's a tip for all you young'ns out there-- get excited to show your ID and they'll stop asking). I may have even giggled.
So I'm 30. At least I can still pass for 19.
As of 20 minutes ago, it is officially my birthday. I had been having a somewhat nuerotic reaction to turning 30 (okay, it was more than "somewhat"), but I'm okay enough with it at the moment. It's possibly due to the mass quantities of birthday fudge that I just consumed. Everything is better with fudge.
