2000-08-12 - 10:16am� Just a quick entry because I am on my way out. The concert ( Summersault ) yesterday was fun, although I had some problems with the sun and the lack of available beverages. Didn't get sunburnt this time, but I think I was dehydrated for a good part of the afternoon. I kept waiting for the drink vendors to come around like they always did at other outdoor festivals I've gone to, but for some reason, they didn't come around at this show. And the food and beverage tents were poorly run and understocked. It was not good. Very poorly organized venue. The music was all really good with the exception of the headliners-- The Smashing Pumpkins. I could not believe how bad they were! Everyone told me that they usually put on a really good show, but I guess they just don't give a damn anymore. It wasn't my little group that thought so either. There was kind of a mass exodus around halfway through their set. I'd say probably close to a quarter of the people started leaving at that point. But it was slightly painful. Droning incoherent vocals, indistinguishable accompaniment...gah. Okay, enough with the whining. Foo Fighters were great, Our Lady Peace put on a good set too, and I really enjoyed Perfect Circle and Catherine Wheel. So yeah, it was a good show. And now I am off to Toronto for a day. So I should probably go now seeing as my ride is probably on its way. I'll be back tomorrow and I should have a real, more interesting (ha!) entry soon.
