2000-07-28 - 8:59pm� Damn, damn, damn. I went into work today with a smile on my face and a song in my heart at the thought that today would be my last day. If I hadn't been so horribly hot and sweaty, there probably would have been a spring in my step today. I was just that excited at the thought of not having to come back. So of course, just because this is the way my life seems to work, around 10:30 someone comes into my office and tells me that they just spoke to Manpower (my temp agency), and they have arranged to have me continue working for them for another day or two. Well, whoop-dee-doo! Let me try to contain my joy and excitement. Sigh. Okay, I shouldn't complain too much. It is work, after all. After such a long stretch of unemployment I should just be happy for a reason to move my lazy ass off the couch every day. And it isn't that bad... so the people aren't friendly, that's not a crime. At least they pretty much left me alone today. But I'm still not happy about it. I want a new assignment, damnit! One that involves a little more than data entry. ****** The following sign was posted near the elevator in my apartment building yesterday: ATTENTION ALL TENANTS! Please refrain from throwing garbage off of your balconies. This could cause serious injury! Any tenants or visitors caught throwing garbage from their balcony will face serious consequences. Thank you for your co-operation in this matter. The fact that a sign like this is required makes me simultaneouly saddened and amused. And it reminds me yet again that I really, really need to move. ***** Did I mention that it is too hot today? Heat and humidity make me cranky... crankier. I think I'll keep this diary entry short today so that I can go out and buy some chocolate popsicles before the store closes. But before I go, once again I'm asking "Is anybody out there?" I know that my friend Sarah reads this and I know that my friend Katie reads this. And I while reading through some of my favorite online diaries I learned that Katrin reads this too. Seeing my diary on the list of her "Diaries I read" absolutely made my day. So anyone else out there reading this? Just curious. Bye for now.
