Do other cats eat elastic bands?

Simon the cat is odd. I love the little guy, but I can't deny that he's not quite right in his little kitty head.

He has been yacking up hairballs alot recently. This in itself is not strange. He's really hairy, he's shedding, he cleans himself alot. Despite the fact that I brush him daily, he's still going to swallow a lot of his hair.

But what he yacks up is more than hair. Twice now while cleaning up after him, I've noticed elastic bands in his hairballs. The first time it was just a little one, so I thought that he probably just ate it by mistake. But this morning he yacked up a lovely little present that had 2 big yellow elastic bands sticking out.

I have no idea where he is finding the elastics in the first place. It's not like we keep elastic bands out where kitties can find them. And even if we did, how in the hell could he mistake them for food? Twice? Three times really-- one in the first ball of cat hair and puke, two in the second.

It's a good thing he's pretty, because really? To quote Hank Hill, that boy ain't right.
