Wish Jars

Today was another lazy Saturday. I meant to go out today, but like most Saturdays, I ended up sitting on my butt all day instead. So this is going to be a really boring diary entry. Oh well.

I was very proud of myself for something I thought of today though. I finally figured out the best way to market a little craft project I've been playing around with. For anyone reading this who doesn't already know this, I like to make things out of polymer clay. Fimo is my product of choice. I make jewelry mostly, but I also cover candle holders, pens, lightswitch covers, picture frames and anything else I can think of, with fimo. It's an addictive little hobby. I make way more of this stuff than I can ever use, so I sell some of it at craft shows and at a cool little store in Hamilton, ON called Textures. I have a little online gallery of my work in case anyone is interested in seeing any of my stuff. Gee, this is really a link heavy paragraph isn't it?

So anyway, a couple months ago I found an online tutorial for making cute little bubble pots. The woman who wrote the tutorial called them "wish keepers". I made a few small ones with pierced rims and strung them on necklaces. They were cute enough, but I still wasn's quite satisfied with them, and no one has bought any of the ones I put in the store. And while I am not really trying to make much money off of my hobby, I do like to at least be able to sell the stuff I make, otherwise it just all piles up. A girl can only have so many incense burners...

But anyway, today I decided what to do with the little jars. I'm going to roll up a litle strip of paper and stick it in the pot, so that people can write their wishes on the paper and put them into the "wish jar" for safe keeping. I even wrote up a little Hallmark-ish poem to attach to the jars so that people know what they are for. Isn't that clever? Isn't that just too cute for words?

Well I damn well hope it is, because I really like making these little bubble pots but I don't really want hundreds of them littering my apartment.
