Thunderstorm Terror!

From an email I sent to a friend this afternoon:

"I got caught in the rain at lunch, and my pant legs are soaked at the bottom. All of my m*eals on whe*els volun*teers for tonight have called me to question whether they have to go out in this weather. One of my trans drivers cancelled all her rides this afternoon because she's afraid to leave her basement in case of tornado(!). Another driver decided not to go out to get her client, but didn't call the client to tell her because she was afraid that she would be struck by lightning while on the phone. And, to top it all off, it seems that a skunk got in somewhere in the building, and now the office stinks of skunk."

So that was my day.

It rained today. It was a big thunderstorm, flood your basement kind of rain, and everyone started panicking.

I know one of the high schools in town was closed due to flooding, as were two shopping centres. And I'm sure that a lot of people will have lots of fun with flooded basements. But we're not talking end of the shit, people. Still, because I live in a city that was hit by a tornado 20 years ago, early summer thunderstorms always make freak out. Because any thunderstorm could potentially turn into a tornado. Or something. Blah.
