2004-02-02 - 5:44 p.m. I was in a good mood when I woke up this morning. I was even in a good mood when I got to work this morning. It was Monday morning and I was in a genuinely good mood. That is a rare occurence in my life, let me tell you. Too bad that it took the span of 5 minutes at my office to squash my good mood into oblivion. My day started with pissy coworkers who seemed determined to make me as cranky as they were. Seriously. I said "good morning" to the first person I saw today, and she replied with "yeah, right" and a snort. Then, before I could even get my coat off, the never ending barrage of phone calls from cranky old people began. Spiffy. I worked my ass off all day but I barely got to work on anything that I had planned to work on. I was too busy dealing with emergencies, clients trying to break the rules, volunteers who needed a sounding board, coworkers who didn't seem to understand how busy I was, and so on and so forth. My day ended with a client yelling at me and calling me a bitch when I told him that I could not send him out a car right away because we were not a taxi service, and our volunteers are not available at the drop of a hat. So yeah. Today sucked. And what sucks the most about it is that I was in a really good mood. I had a relaxing weekend, I went into work feeling refreshed and happy, and now I am tense, upset, and about as far from a good mood as I can get. And that pisses me off. I'm fucking pissed off because I'm pissed off. I think now I shall put some old Motown on my stereo and ride my exercise bike until I am too tired to be in a bad mood. That'll work, right?
